The June Bug Dies Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the last day of June, but spring fever has hardly begun.  It is finally summer time here in Sexy Rexy (currently 83 degrees) and that makes going to school and doing homework about three times harder.  And being terribly ill doesn't make it any easier.  Oh well.  I got a job on Monday.

Wait a second...WHAT?!?  Yes, it is true...I got a job...at the Dollar Tree and I will be working with my good friend KC.  Remember her?  The gorgeous one who is getting married and I took her engagement pictures.  Yes, her.  Fantastic.  I'm sort of terrified.  Probably because I have only had one real job in my life and that was six years ago, not to mention I got yelled at and swore at all the time and actually cried a time or two.  It was dreadful.  Hopefully KC and the Dollar Tree experience will rid me of my phobia of jobs... fingers crossed.

Yesterday I skipped my math class... again... 2nd time... because I am still sick and feel terrible and the last thing I wanted to do was sit in a classroom and learn about statistics (which I can never say right the first time).  Instead Kyle and I rode our bikes to the park on that beautiful, warm, sunshiny afternoon and I took pictures (as usual) and Kyle read his accounting book.  I had to create a montage for my photography class and I think they turned out pretty cool, so I'll share.  I made two...

After I finished with that I forced Kyle to take pictures with me. While we were there I started to feel pretty good and not so sick like... it was very nice to feel the sunshine and the warmth.  As soon as we got home though, I was back to my sneezing, runny nose, and headachy, body-achy sick self again.  Ugh.

Family Reunion

Home at last.  Can I just tell you how absolutely wonderful it feels to come home to a clean, quiet, uncrowded apartment after spending four days in complete madness?  It's amazing!  13 out of 15 children all under the age of 10 screaming and crying and running around; along with 15 not so quiet or tame grown ups. Did I mention my ever present headache for those four days? The boys watched the world cup, went golfing (where Kyle got insanely sunburned from lack of sunscreen.  He looked like hot stuff... literally.) and argued about trivial matters.  The girls made crafts and chatted a bit about birth and such.  Let me tell you, if you want some of the best birth control...1. go to a family reunion with screaming, crying, temperamental kids, 2. talk about child birth in detail with those who have experienced it, and 3. hold the cute babies that drool/throw up on you, have to be held standing up, and poop so that you can feel it and hear it...gross.  I probably told Kyle at least 10 times that we are never having children.  It was fun though and the place we stayed in Ashton was beautiful.  I wish it had been warmer so we could have gone kayaking and I wish all those thick blankets of flies that enveloped the outside of the cabin had died when they were supposed to. This is were we stayed...

The view in the front...

and the view in the back...

On Friday night there was an incredible storm with a ton of lightning!  I was outside taking pictures trying to get a good one of lightning and Kyle's sister Carrie was a bit worried so she made someone get Kyle to come outside with me.  He came out, said hi and two seconds later went back inside because it was cold.  Then it started hailing out of nowhere and I got pelted right inside my ear...thats when I decided it was time to go inside.

Ohhh and the food was so AMAZING!  We ate a cafe rio sort of dish that I made myself sick over from eating so much, delicious steak and baked potatoes, bb-q pork sandwiches, and green creamy chicken enchiladas....of which Kyle and I got to take home the two massive left over pans. Mmmmm.

We didn't get to sleep out in the tent unfortunately because it was pouring down rain the first night we were there Thursday, so we got put in a room with Kyle's brother Thad and his wife Julie who, up until then I had never met.  Turns out that it wasn't awkward and I really like them :) Their son Ben liked to just stare at me with his big round blue eyes for minutes at a time...I tried to make him smile and I got close a time or two, but he was good.

Now I am sick and feel like I got hit by a train, which I blame it on the craziness and the lack of sleep from this happy reunion and Kyle is still trying to recover from his fun in the sun...we are quite a pair.  It was a lot of fun, but I am so glad it is over.

Isabel and Aiden... precious.

Dumpster Diving

So Wednesday Kyle got on some antibiotics for an infection and he isn't supposed to eat things with calcium in them, so on Thursday I started making spaghetti for dinner because I don't think it has calcium in it, but I forgot we were out of sauce.  Kyle ran to the store real quick to get some and we he got home and I look out the window and he is walking over to the dumpster. I thought he just was throwing something away, cleaning out his car maybe. No, I kept watching and after he rummaged around a bit he hoisted himself up and went in head first!!! I started laughing and I had no idea what he was doing.  He was dumpster diving in broad daylight!  Sadly I was not quick enough with my camera and wasn't able to get a picture, but this really happened.  This is pretty much what it looked like...

Apparently he accidently threw away his debit card while taking out the trash for me a couple days before. Don't worry, he found it.

Motion.  I had this motion assignment for my photography class and I was so excited for it.  I asked Kyle if he would come with me to take pictures and he said YES! I was so happy :D he even helped me think of ideas of things to take pictures of.  His idea #1 rubics cube...loved it! He is so amazing, I never would have thought of that.

I also wanted to get a cool picture overlooking Rexburg at night, so we drove to the top of the "hill" and there were no good shots unless I was standing in the middle of the road.  I would wait somewhat impatiently for there to be an opening with no cars so I wouldn't get run over and this one time there was THE MOST PERFECT opening and this cop decided we were creeping perverts and pulled a u-turn. Ugh...just my luck.  He was very nice and it took him awhile to realize that I was a woman...good thing he had his handy dandy flashlight or he probably never would have figured it out.  After he left us alone there was a good enough opening, but none of the pictures really turned out, but while we waited on the sidewalk I did get some cool shots.

Then we went to Porter Park and I took some pictures and then Kyle wanted to show off a little before we went home so I took some pictures of him climbing trees...it's like 11 p.m. by the way...and thus ended that photographic journey.

Yesterday was Friday and Kyle and I both don't have classes, but what we do have is this insanely awful Old Testament online class that we had to write an 8 page single spaced paper for.  It was due Friday and we started it friday, we like to plan for these things.  So all day Friday we write and barely submit it before the deadline, but we did it! (*A VERY special thanks to Mr. Brody Bluemel, my wonderful brother-in-law for writing my thesis statement for me!*)  Kyle and I can both now say we have written an 8 page single spaced paper.  My life is now complete, a dream come true.  Well, I was so happy and relieved to have it done and sooo tired that we just went to bed, of course.  At 2:00 a.m. I woke up in a horrible panic.  My motion assignment, my wonderful motion assignment was due at midnight that night and I completely forgot!!! I worked really hard on it too. Ugh...so I got out of bed and submitted them to the class blog and e-mailed my teacher and got no sleep for the rest of the night.

So now I have another paper due tonight and Kyle has a paper due Tuesday and then we both have another paper for Old Testament due Friday that we have to get done by Wednesday so we can relax a little at the family reunion.  Can I just say how much I seriously want to quit school or get in some freak accident where I don't die, but can't do anymore school work for about 3 months?  I guess it sounds morbid, but I'm willing to accept that.

3 Months And A Day

On friday we got a waffle maker from the Handcocks! It was like Christmas! We love waffles and I almost got a waffle maker for Kyle for his birthday, but got the grill instead. And I'm so glad! On Sunday we decided to try it out and after some really burnt waffles I think I finally got it right.

So we went off to choir practice a tad late, but with our bellies full and happy :D and nobody showed up before us for awhile, so we were singing by ourselves for awhile anyways.  Then, lucky Kyle got to sing the special number in sacrament meeting! (Mens quartet). Sooo lucky ;). They sounded so great!  I loved it, what a great way to start off our forth month of marriage bliss; waffles and Kyle singing in sacrament. Then, to make it even better we decided to take the burnt waffles and feed the ducks at the duck pond so we took a little bike ride.  To Kyle's disappointment the ducks didn't like our waffles as much as the bread the kids were throwing across the way. It was finally nice outside though so we just enjoyed the park.  Such a perfect day.  Then, as I was riding ahead of Kyle a little, I almost ran over a snake down this narrow path in the park and I screamed. As I reached the end of the path there were Josh and Trista just standing there! Apparently Josh was paralyzed by the snake (he fears all animals) and was freaking out. Haha. Kyle missed the whole thing, go figure...I need to work on my scream I guess.
Today, my photo class was canceled, woo hoo! but I forgot about it and showed up anyways, way to go.  So I headed over to Romney 55 for some extra credit and got out an hour earlier than I usually would so I sat outside and waited for Kyle to finish his test.  I tried to take a nap in the sun, but a teacher decided to hold class right where I was napping and I didn't realize until I was practically surrounded by students in the class...so awkward. Now I am sunburn and it feels so FANTASTIC! Finally! Oh how I have missed the sun!  Aaand Kyle got a 90% on his test!  And... today Kyle and I have been married for 3 months and a day!  Another great day.

Soon-to-be-Barnwell

I am taking my good friends KC and Shane's engagement pictures and it is really fun and they are so cute that I thought I'd share some of my favorites.

These are from the first shoot we did.

I realize that it isn't Kyle and I, but it is what we have been up to.  Kyle comes with and tells jokes to get Shane to laugh so his smile real and I try to take great pictures that KC and Shane will love. I also take some random pictures, too.

Like when Kyle got really excited about the marry-go-round and spun himself until he was sick.

And when we went to Beaver Dick Park and pretty much the whole place was flooded!  I thought it was pretty cool so I took some pictures.
Something else that is pretty cool is that I was looking up my name on the Social Security website to see if my name has ever been popular or desirable and guess what I found...from the year 1962 to 1968 Lisa was number ONE in popularity! SIX years in a row! Wow, who would have thought? Not me thats for dang sure. So maybe my name isn't so bad after all. And if you're wondering if I looked up Kyle, well, I did...the highest he ever got was #18 one year. HA!  Which I guess thats pretty high considering how many names there are, but still...I'M NUMER ONE....for SIX YEARS! WOOHOO! hahahaha

Last night we decided we get The Blindside from Redbox and have a little movie night and I am sooo glad we did because it was an AMAZING movie.  It's one of those that you could watch with your parents and never think twice about it and that made me really happy :)

Also, I was looking around on the school's Outdoor Resource Center and discovered that we can rent sit on top tandem kayaks!  I am super excited for the day summer decides to show up because we are doing that for sure!  And we are supposed to go camping with our friends from the ward, but again, the weather doesn't care about our plans and anticipations, so I guess we'll see.  It's "supposed" to be 77 on Wednesday, that the warmest this week so I hope it gets there.

Magenta Is Not Summer

Well, it is midterm time and guess what?  I have ALL A's...all of them, no B's, not even in math!!! Aaand I got a 97% on my math midterm! Talk about crazy.  since fifth grade I have barely passed every math class I have ever taken with a D!  Kyle just finished his first block humanities class which will free up about 10 hours a week and is also doing great in all his classes.  I think marriage agrees with us :)

Today Kyle and I got callings in our ward...we are on the activities committee.  Phew...we were worried we would be sunday school teachers haha.  On the 19th we are planning a ward pasta dinner and I think it will be fun.

My flowers have started blooming!  The first blooms are orange...how perfect!  They are very little and really could use some sunlight once in awhile and I think they would do a lot better, but they're holding on and bring little bursts of joy and excitement into my life on these gloomy days.

On one of these awful windy Rexburg days I went out and took some pictures of the magenta petals that are all along the edges of the streets here.  It looks kinda pretty and makes it look all summery and warm even though it isn't.

Kyle and I made rice crispy treats today and this time we didn't mess them up.  They are SOOO good!  Speaking of SOOO good....I got a FULL nights sleep last night....slept all the way through the night and had the weirdest feeling when I woke up to morning instead of 3:30 a.m. with a full bladder.

We are getting really excited about Kyle's family reunion in a couple weeks and we probably will be banished to a tent :D I love camping!  We are really hoping for warm sunny weather to start in and take over the summer season any day now so that it will be nice for us who live here and for the reunion.

I'm starting to get a headache and it's probably because it's 10:02 and I need to go to bed and hopefully sleep amazing again! Mmmm...that would be great.

Sleep Apnea

Today I didn't have math class because my teacher is trying to pass a kidney stone.  How unfortunate, but no school for the rest of the week so who cares!!!  That's horrible, but I can't help it.  I'm pretty sure I have sleep apnea.  Every morning I still feel exhausted and wake up with a headache and have a headache all day long and I haven't changed the way I sleep or how much I sleep at all, except for sleeping on my back.  I'm tired all day long and can't wait to go down for the night, but then I wake up all the time tossing and turning and I have to pee between 12:30 and 4:30 every night!  I just want to sleep :( so I try to stop sleeping on my back because I was thinking maybe that is the problem, but now I wake up even more because every time I wake up I am on my back, so now I am paranoid about getting a good night of sleep which is hindering me from sleeping! Ugh.  Last night Kyle even gave me 2 Tylenol p.m. and a 3mlg melatonin and a back massage mmmm :)  but I still didn't sleep well at all even though I was super tired!!  It's getting ridiculous.  I'm usually an amazing sleeper.
See...amazing.  Sleeping in a laundry basket and I probably woke up feeling great...maybe it's the thumb.
